  • SYLLABI OF COURSE :

    I. B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Art): Duration 5 years

    It consists of two year preparatory and three year  specialization.

    PREPARATORY COURSE (1st year & 2nd year) Total Marks: 1000

    Practical Marks: 700

    1. 1. Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Applied Art and crafts are compulsory at Preparatory level.
    2. 2. The practical works include nature study, outdoor study and sketches, still life, crafts and design, Printmaking in wood and linocut, clay modeling and exercises in lettering and Typography etc.

    Theory Marks: 300

    1. 1. Paper I- Aspects of Visual Art and Early Indian Sculpture
    2. 2. Paper II- Art of the Prehistoric and the Ancient world
    3. 3. Paper III- Language English & Sanskrit or MIL

    Specialization Course : (Part I & Part II)

    Specialization to be opted in any one of the following streams – Painting, Sculpture, Graphics (Print Making) and Applied Art.

    Part I: Total Marks - 1000
    Theory (Common for all streams)

    1. 1. Paper I: Western Art (Byzantine to the Early Renaissance)100 marks
    2. 2. Paper II: Far Eastern Art (China and Japan)100 marks
    3. 3. Paper III: Indian Art (Post Gupta to the coming of the British)100 marks

    Practical: Internal assessment and University Examination 700 marks

    Part II: Total Marks - 500
    Theory (Common for all streams)

    1. 1. Paper I: Western Art. (Modern Period)-100 marks
    2. 2. Paper II: Indian Art. (Modern Period)-100 marks

    3. Practical: Internal assessment and University Examination-300 marks

    II. B.V.A. (Bachelor of Visual Art): Duration 4 years 8 semester

    The Bachelor of Visual Art programme is a modular four-eight (eight semesters) course. The course offers four specializations (honours) in the subjects of :

    ii) MIL (Assamese: Ancient Assamese Literature / Hindi / Alternative English)

    v) Eastern Ancient Art

    vi) Indian Art

    vii) Western Art - I

    viii) Western Art - II

    ix) Advertising Theory (For Applied Art specialization)

    x) Aesthetics (East & West) : (for Graphics / Painting / Sculpture specialization)

    xi) Contemporary Art (World)

    xii) Project work on Art and Culture of North-East India (Dissertation)

    b) Practical and specialization (honours) subjects : 

    The practical subjects thrust into academic and practical training on visual art / fine arts which incorporates different techniques, media, contemporary trends as well as traditional and folk art tradition of northeast India.
